In today’s world of “go…go… go,” it’s easy to feel rushed to do everything. Rushed to get things accomplished, rushed to get where you’re going and rushed to make decisions.
But one of the best things we can do for our clients is to slow down and give them “grace space.”
Slow down and give your #coaching clients 'grace space' #CCI Share on XWhen we ask our clients a question, it is not our job to immediately jump in with a follow-up question. Instead, we need to pause and allow them time to really process the question and become more deeply aware of the situation before they answer.
Taking the time to slow down and be present in the moment helps clients avoid jumping into action too soon. By taking their time and marinating on a situation instead, your client will connect with their innermost thoughts, feelings, and desires, as opposed to just their initial reaction.
More importantly, allowing them this “grace space,” invites the Holy Spirit into the conversation. Pausing and sitting in silence for a few moments, allows the Spirit to do HIS work within the client and guide them to the next step on their journey.
As a coach, it is important to not jump ahead, but to be tuned-in to these moments and help our clients to recognize them as well. Remind your clients that God wants to be included in all of the decisions in their lives, from big to small, and that taking the time to consciously be present in the moment, invites Him into the conversation.
Don't jump ahead, tune-in to the moment, and invite HIM into the conversation #CCI #lifecoaching Share on XBut this doesn’t just apply to our clients. We can extend “grace space” to the loved ones in our own lives as well, and even to ourselves. Remember not to hurry yourself or others along in their decisions. It may be tempting to do so, with the world around you constantly saying “hurry up!” But God’s timing is always perfect and sometimes the very best way to hear what HE wants to tell us, is to say nothing at all.
