“This little light of mine, I’m gonna let it shine.
Let it shine, let it shine, let it shine.”
We all remember the words to the children’s song “This Little Light of Mine,” but as adults rushing through our busy lives; do we forget all about our light?
In Matthew 5:15, Matthew talks about a lamp and how you would never light it under a bowl but instead would put it on a table so it can give light to everyone in the house. He goes on to say in verse 16, “In the same way, let your light shine before others, that they may see your good deeds and glorify your Father in heaven.”
Just like a lamp’s purpose is to give off light, God has blessed you with a specific purpose that when used, will shine light into the world. He gave you certain gifts and talents so you can use them for His glory, not keep them hidden away.
For example, you can shine your light brightly as a Professional Christian Life Coach . By working in this profession and ministry, you can utilize your gifts in a way that will help others reach their goals and grow in their relationship with God.
We were each gifted in different ways for a reason. It’s what makes us unique. So instead of comparing yourself to others or trying to force yourself to be something you are not, you need to embrace your purpose and celebrate it.
Like Matthew said, let others see the good works you are doing in the name of God so that they may be drawn to Him too. The best way for you to show them the path to Him is to light their way.
What are your spiritual gifts?
Are you letting your light shine for God’s glory?
